The B is Just the Beginning

March 10, 2026

March marks B Corp Month — a global celebration led by B Lab and a community of more than 10,000 companies working to make business a force for good.

This year, it carries special meaning for us: veritree has officially earned Certified B Corporation™ status, affirming our mission and holding us accountable to the same standards of transparency and integrity that we aim to bring to global restoration efforts.

What is B Corp Month?

B Corp Month is an annual global celebration of companies that meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.

More than just a certification, B Corp is a movement, spanning thousands of companies across industries and geographies, united by one shared belief: business should benefit all stakeholders, not just shareholders.

The B is a simple symbol. But it represents something powerful. For veritree, it reflects the same principles that guide our restoration work: transparency, measurable outcomes, and accountability for long-term impact.

Historically, companies seeking certification completed the B Impact Assessment and needed to achieve a minimum verified score of 80 points across impact categories. Businesses could perform strongly in some areas and offset weaker performance in others, as long as the total score met the threshold.

That model helped build the movement for nearly 20 years. But as expectations for corporate responsibility evolve and as the climate and social crises intensify — so do the standards.

Standards Worth Standing For: What Changed in 2025

2025 marked one of the most significant evolutions in B Corp certification to date.

Under the new standards, companies are no longer evaluated solely on reaching an overall score. Instead, they must meet minimum performance thresholds across all impact topics.

That means businesses can’t concentrate their efforts in just one or two areas to reach certification. Impact must be holistic.

The updated framework organizes requirements across core impact areas such as:

  • Purpose & Stakeholder Governance
  • Climate Action
  • Human Rights
  • Fair Work
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Environmental Stewardship & Circularity
  • Government Affairs & Collective Action

Each area now has specific performance requirements that companies must meet which raises the bar for what it truly means to be a responsible business.

This shift reflects an important principle: impact shouldn’t be isolated. It should be integrated. Companies must demonstrate a baseline level of performance across every material impact area.

In other words: collective impact matters.

Another major evolution in the new standards is the introduction of a formal continuous improvement pathway. It acknowledges that responsible business is an ongoing commitment. The world changes. Risks evolve. Best practices advance. Certified companies must evolve too.

For veritree, this resonates deeply. Our work in restoration and climate action is built on long-term impact measurement. We know ecosystems don’t regenerate overnight. Progress requires monitoring, transparency, and iteration. Now, B Corp certification mirrors that same philosophy. Progress is never finished. Neither are we.

Why This Matters

The evolution of the B Corp standards comes at a time when scrutiny around corporate sustainability claims is intensifying. Stakeholders are demanding clarity, comparability, and proof. Certifications must be credible. Standards must be rigorous. By requiring minimum performance across all impact topics and mandating continuous improvement over time, B Lab is strengthening what the B stands for.

For businesses, this means:

  • Stronger governance practices
  • Clearer climate transition planning
  • Greater supply chain accountability
  • Deeper worker engagement
  • More comprehensive human rights due diligence

For the broader movement, it means trust. And trust is essential if business is going to play a meaningful role in addressing global challenges.

The B Corp Movement

At veritree, our B Corp certification represents what we’ve achieved so far and it also sharpens our focus on what comes next.

The updated framework reinforces something we’ve always believed: environmental and social impact must be integrated into business strategy, not layered on top.

We’re proud to stand alongside thousands of companies around the world united by the B: businesses proving that profit and purpose are not at odds. Because restoring nature and the systems around it requires both.
