Oak Bay Beach Hotel was looking to further cement their commitment to sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of business operations.

Methodology & Assets

Every night that a hotel guest declines stay-over service of their room, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel commits to planting 10 kelp off the coast of B.C.

Outcome

Nearly 20,000 kelp planted, almost doubling Oak Bay Beach Hotel’s goal of 10k. In addition to this, Oak bay has experienced an increase in guest interest in their sustainability programs.

Methodology & Assets

Sutton Place provided an incentive for its guests by offering to plant 10 trees for every night they opt out of overnight housekeeping.

Outcome

Improved cost efficiency by addressing the hotel’s labour shortage and reducing OPEx, while providing an engaging guest experience that is good for the planet.
