Growing a Future

In a rural community in southeastern Senegal, agroforestry is helping families build stable livelihoods. For Amadou Bibi Diallo, cultivating fruit trees replaced dangerous seasonal mining, allowing him to earn locally, feed his family, support his children’s education, and help expand opportunities for women in his community.

Rooted in Collaboration

In the village of Missira Bakawka, women are growing their financial independence and improving food security. Led by Fatimata Binta Diallo, seven savings groups now manage a shared garden supplying food, income, and confidence. With tools and training, these women are growing crops and long-term independence right in their village.

Kelp Hatchery

To scale seaforestation, veritree supported a kelp hatchery development on Canada’s Sunshine Coast. Over 150 kelp cultures were established from wild spores, creating a stable multi-year seed supply. With the hatchery complete, kelp planting will begin in January 2026 under optimal ocean conditions.
