Tracking Nature’s Return

The Sawle Lake region of Alberta was significantly impacted by the 2016 Horse River wildfire, also known as the Fort McMurray wildfire. This devastating fire, which started in May 2016, burned over 590,000 hectares of land, including forested areas near Sawle Lake. In partnership with Shakti Reforestation, we’ve developed a robust reforestation plan to restore this area to its natural state and ensure the long-term sustainability of the region. This Sawle Lake, Alberta site is veritree’s ‘Smartest Forest’ with near-real time on-the-ground monitoring providing a live virtual representation of the ecosystem.
